Hon. Colonial Treasurer,

The mistake really goes back to the contribution

paid for the year 1926. In 1925 Senior Revenue Officer Watt

occupies quarters in Beaconsfield Arcade the estimated value

of which were $7,500.

About the end of 1925 he moved into quarters at

Happy Valley valued at $56,175. Interest at 4% owing to an

oversight has since been charged on $7,500 instead of $56,175.

I regret this error.

Senior Revenue Officer Watt was engaged in the

suppression of illicit opium traffic on Hong Kong Island.

Superintendent, Imports & Exports,

It is too late now the Supplementary Appropriation

Bill has gone through.

It might be adjusted in next year's return.

(Sd.) C. McI. Messer,

Colonial Treasurer,

7th July, 1928.
